Harihar (90 km)
Located on the banks of the Tungabhadra River, Harihar is well known for the Harihareshwara temple, also known as "Dakshina Kashi". The temple was built by the Hoysala kings who ruled the region from 11th to 13th Century AD. As the name suggests, Harihara, the presiding deity of the temple, is an amalgamation of Shiva ("hara") and Vishnu ("hari"), the two polar Hindu deities.
